Charles Brownlow, OD, FAAO

Charles Brownlow, OD, FAOO

Dr. Brownlow practiced general optometry for nearly twenty years before being hired as the executive vice president of the Wisconsin Optometric Association. In 1994, he assumed the management of the association's counseling service to assist doctors with challenges related to dealing with insurance companies, and therein lies a tail. Doctors and staff in other states soon recognized the importance of such counsel, and Dr. Brownlow soon was called to offices, board rooms, and lecture halls across the country.

Chuck is a frequent presenter at eye care meetings, large and small, and a regular contributor to state and national publications serving the eye care industry. He serves as a medical records consultant to the American Optometric Association and is an advisory board member for Primary Care Optometry News.

Dr. Brownlow has been an active volunteer in eye care organizations throughout his career and has also kept busy with his church and service organizations in his home community in Wisconsin. Chuck has been married to Sheryl since 1970 and is very proud of his two adult children, Rebecca and Andrew.

Ryan P. Ames, O.D.

Dr. Ryan Ames

Dr. Ames is the managing owner of Northshore Eye Care, a three doctor, two location practice in Oshkosh & Omro, Wisconsin. He sees patients on a daily basis for everything from general medical eye exams and contact lenses to glaucoma and AMD. As the managing owner, he has been directly involved in the coding and billing challenges facing an optometric practice. He also manages a medical technology co-op where private practices share a GDx among the group. He has lectured on billing & coding and is involved in answering questions for PMI clients and AOA members.

He is the chair for the New Members Committee of the Wisconsin Optometric Association and also serves on the board of directors for the association. Dr. Ames has also served as the president of his local WOA society.

When he is not seeing patients or consulting, he spend time with his wife Barb and young kids, Caden and Lilli.

Joyce Josie, LPN

Ms. Josie joined PMI in the late 1990s, bringing with her broad experience in health care. She has become an invaluable expert on interpreting and understanding eye care medical records, dealing with insurance representatives, helping doctors and staff understand the rules and regulations associated with providing health care in the new millennium.

Joyce is integrally involved in PMI's ongoing services, such as: Medical Records Review, Fee Analysis, Coordination of PMI Seminars, Development of Online Education, and Coordination of Services for PMI clients.
